EMMA Graduation Project - Field Research

For our upcoming final Graduation Project, we need to do various kinds of research to establish a final research question. With this question, we write the so-called Supportive Narrative, which will litterally 'support' your final project.

It was advised to keep track of your findings through a blog, and that is what I am going to do from now on. This Works of Heart Blog will be the stage where I will record my research and findings. I will try to work from both an objective academic standpoint and a personal view, hoping to combine both elements in a final statement.

So, let's get on with it.

For the first couple of weeks (4) we have to present a proposal in which we state our field of research. In my case, this means a broad view to establish my final research question. This broad view needs to extend your current field of vision, and lets you discover the world around you. A personal connection to the subject is always favorited, so therefore my personal opinion and interests will be present in almost every subject. I hope I will be able to express my thoughts on certain matters, and let them guide me to really express my Heart in my Work.

Excersize II: Character Study 01

A few days ago; I saw some pictures my dad had made at a wedding. There was this guy playing the accordion who looked so awesome! I laughed aloud after seeing his photo - his personality was just perfect for a study... and so, here it is! Too bad I don't know the name of the guy; but if he ever comes across this, it's him who gets the credit!



As you can see it's truly I study, I do not know yet how far I'll finish this; at least it helped me improve greatly! ^^

Yay! Number two! I found it a lot easier this time, and yet also a lot more difficult to act randomly - I found myself wanting to control the shape too much... But anyways, here it is!

Excersize I: Custombrush Mecha 01

I've decided to punch up my skills by doing different excersizes and challenges - which I will post here.


The first excersize is one I've come up with during the Streamline Studios' Open Night, where I saw an artist creating mechas out of nowhere with custombrushes! So, I've decided to try it myself... and here it is - my very first mech!




I will definately make more of these - I found the 'random' way of working immensely satisfying. Plus it's quite cool to see mechas come out of my mind just like that... Enjoy!
